The Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound School (CBOBS) is a non-profit, outdoor educational organization with programs that deliver character development and self-discovery in the wilderness, in the city, and in school. CBOBS operates programs in Baltimore City, the District of Columbia, the Appalachian Trail in MD and PA, the Potomac River, the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area in WV, and the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.

Position Summary
The Director of Sales and Admissions is a vital member of the leadership team at the Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound School (CBOBS), tasked with driving partnership strategies and initiatives to meet earned revenue targets of $1.6M. This role encompasses the development and execution of comprehensive sales strategies, management of the annual sales budget, and rigorous tracking of performance metrics. By aligning sales efforts with program objectives, the Director will promote sustainable growth and amplify CBOBS's impact within the community. Additionally, the Director is committed to delivering exceptional customer service to all expedition families and excels in building strong relationships internally and externally.
The ideal candidate is strategic, highly organized, and capable of building sales and partnership strategies. Strong leadership skills required to manage a team of five direct reports and strong proficiency with Salesforce or another CRM required. Passion for youth, education, or the outdoors is a plus! This is a hybrid position and serves in Baltimore and Washington, DC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
Leadership:
- Drive business growth by generating high-quality leads within school systems and fostering strong leadership relationships with current clients through proactive engagement and communication.
- Implement sales and scholarship related components of the current 5-year strategic plan.
- Maximize revenue by strategically optimizing the product mix and effectively managing sales capacity and scheduling to meet market demand.
- Foster out-of-office collaboration with sales staff and the Development team to identify and cultivate regional partnerships. Actively execute sales initiatives in the development plan to drive sustained growth, leveraging team synergy and shared insights.
Sales Management:
- Develop and achieve the annual sales and scholarship plans in coordination with the Executive Director and the Chief Operating Officer.
- Achieve annual community and Open Enrollment program revenue targets.
- Lead and coach a 3-person sales team through check-ins, sales planning, tracking, and analysis.
- Negotiate partnership agreements, including financial contributions, in-kind support, and co-branding opportunities.
- Develop and manage the Open Enrollment calendar, serving as the CBOBS lead for Outward Bound USA and the Outward Bound Services Group in course planning and group partnerships.
- Track and monitor annual sales and scholarship disbursal goal achievement.
Admissions Management:
- Lead and coach a 2-person admissions team through weekly check-ins, admissions timeline planning, tracking and analysis.
- Ensure admissions processes, enrollment management and medical screening for community and open enrollment expeditions provide a premier customer service experience for all expedition families throughout their application process.
- In collaboration with the Operations Manager and admissions team oversee and drive operational efficiencies, using automation and other technologies to improve the expedition admission process for internal and external stakeholders.
- Directly communicate with parents of Expedition students for elevated customer service concerns.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
At least 4-7 years’ in managerial and sales/partnerships experience and a successful track record in:
- Budgeting, work plan development, report preparation and analysis, and performance evaluation.
- Managing staff effectively through annual goal setting, feedback, mentoring, and coaching.
- Strong proficiency with Salesforce, and advanced functions of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Performing effectively under pressure and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- Demonstrating initiative, creativity, and commitment to achieving and exceeding results.
- Time and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and focus on goals.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the Baltimore and Washington, DC areas.
- Knowledge of regional school systems, non-profits and community organizations
preferred.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000; commensurate with experience. .

- Fifteen (15) days of Paid Time Off (PTO) which accrue per pay period.

- Ability to sit at a desk or computer 90% of the time or greater.
